Top 5 Naruto Shippuden Fights

Ah Naruto, the show that got me into anime. I’m surprised I haven’t done any Naruto related content at all. I loved part 1 the most, I still watch it every now and then. But Naruto Shippuden guys.. It was disappointing in terms of story, characters, animation and fillers. The filler episodes were so bad that I dropped the anime and just moved to the manga.

Naruto.PNG

The only thing that saved it for me was the fights. I felt that Studio Pierrot’s animation budget went into the fights which is ok, but it made the rest of anime look awful. They stepped up the animation during the war but I had given up on the anime way before the war arc started. You know, I was typing so fast that I almost went completely off topic. Just to let you know there will be some spoilers in this so read at your own risk.

Here are my Top 5 Naruto Shippuden fights.

5 –  Sakura and Lady Chiyo vs Sasori  (Naruto Shippuden Episode 20 – 27)

This was incredibly long fight, I don’t think it was worth 8 episodes but now that I think about it this is the fight were we see Sakura’s strength for the first time which made the fight great. Lady Chiyo was a cool character who was a great help to Sakura, if she wasn’t there I don’t think Sakura would have survived. This fight was also a sad one, it was a fight between a grandmother and her grandson who she felt she had failed to look ater him. Sasori’s flashbacks during the episodes were sad it reminded me of Gaara’s life before he met Naruto.

Sakura.PNG

You really feared for the lives of Sakura and Lady Chiyo, the music used was very intense. This fight made look Sakura look awesome, it cemented how powerful she is and how she’s a great medical ninja as well. The 10 puppets vs 100 puppets was my favourite moment, there was not much dialogue just Sakura and Chiyo being badasses. It’s a shame that Sakura didn’t get another noteworthy fight as she had the potential to be a cool and very reliable character in my eyes. The anime just became the Naruto and Sasuke show.

4 – Jiraiya vs Pain (Naruto Shippuden Episode 127 – 133)

Jiraiya was amazing in this fight, he had to find out the truth about pain in this fight. So he put his life on the line. When Jiraiya entered Sage mode, you knew things were going to get intense. Pain did not back down in this fight. This was the first time that we see all six pains fight, we finally got to see what pain could do and did some real damage to Jiraiya.

Jiraiya.PNG

Jiraiya was able to take out 3 of the pains with his amazing abilities. In the end Jiraiya sadly died but not before he write a coded message to the leaf. What an amazing character who risked everything to take out pain.

3 –  Naruto vs Pain (Naruto Shippuden Episode 152 – 169)

The Naruto vs Pain arc will always be my favourite arc in Naruto Shippuden. Personally, I feel that this is where Naruto Shippuden should have ended, have Sasuke come back at the end to show that he still cares about the village and then make Naruto and Sasuke fight. I think it would have been great. The Akatsuki had been built up as a huge threat since Naruto part 1, in part 2 we finally get to see how dangerous they can be. Naruto fighting the “leader” of Akatsuki was a huge highlight and it made me tune into the anime again just to see this fight animated.

Naruto 2.PNG

Naruto learns sage mode and Pain destroys the leaf village so Naruto has to come back and defend his home. Well.. what’s left of it. This fight demonstrated the huge threat that pain was, he could take away anyone you love and you couldn’t do anything about it, it showed Naruto in a new light everything from his abilities to his dialogue was perfect for me, Naruto looked like the Hokage. Minato’s appearance near the end to stop Naruto’s 9th tail from sprouting out was unexpected but great as we get a touching moment between the two. My only problem with this arc was Hinata. I still think what she did was reckless and no one can tell me otherwise. I didn’t care about her love confession at all.

2 – Sasuke vs Itachi (Naruto Shippuden Episode 134 – 143)

This fight was absolutely amazing, from start to finish. The ninjutsu, genjutsu sequences were beautiful to look a, everything was fluid. The Kirin and the Susanoo were amazing jutsu’s that looked deadly and dangerous. Unfortunately the two jutsu’s were overused and it became boring when Sasuke used them. But when the Kirin and the Susanoo was revealed for the first time it was mesmerizing.

Sasuke.PNG

Sasuke and Itachi gave it their all this episode but Itachi died in the end but not before he gave Sasuke the Mangekyo Sharingan which was heartbreaking once it’s revealed that Itachi lied all along to Sasuke and he didn’t realise it. This fight between the brothers was even better in the Ninja Storm games as you get to be Sasuke fighting his brother. This fight shaped the events that followed it also left a sad feeling in the air when Itachi died, never again will these two brothers sit and talk on the Uchiha porch.

1 – Kakashi vs Obito (Naruto Shippuden Episode 375

This was a beautifully animated fight that told me all I needed to know about Kakashi and Obito’s feeling by using their fists. It was a great 1v1 fight, it was something that I had been missing from the show, a fight that goes back to the basics. I mean sure they used jutsu’s but it was basic ones. Once they were worn out it became a battle to see who could punch the most. XD

Obito and Kakashi.PNG

It was a battle that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. The choreography was great, both Kakashi and Obito are not overpowered characters and that’s what made this fight real. Two friends who started on the same path but because of a girl, one of them had to bring world domination and Madara Uchiha into this. Ok so I’m joking about Rin only existing to be the reason Obito fights but I will say this, does anyone think Obito obsession with Rin even after she died was weird?

I love this fight because it showed how much Obito and Kakashi had grown. I’m glad that this fight didn’t end up being “who has the coolest jutsu battle” it was just a fight between me. I will say this though, I thought this fight was better than the last Naruto vs Sasuke fight. To me, that battle wasn’t great until the end when the two ran out of chakra. Too much flying fox and Susanoo which was ridiculous. Anyway Kakashi vs Obito was beautifully done. It’s a battle between two friends that is worth watching all over again.

So that’s my Top 5 Naruto Shippuden fights. Let me know what your’s is below! 🙂

Top 5 Best Winter Anime of 2016

Here are the Top 5 Winter Anime that I enjoyed in 2016.

5: Nijjiro Days

N

This show follows four main characters, Natsuki, Keiichi, Tomoya and Tsuyoshi. This was a great anime. I was so focused on the romance in this show as it was so adorable. Out of everyone, Natsuki’s romance with Anna was my favourite it was so pure and sweet. The two characters were great. My favourite guy was Tomoya his realtionship with Mari was hilarious. It was nice to watch an anime focus on the boy’s side of romance. To hear their thoughts and discussions on girls made me like this anime and that’s why it’s at number 10. If you like romance, give this anime a try it won’t disappoint!

4: Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash

G

This is another trapped in a fantasy show. I thought I wasn’t going to like it because it’s so overdone but it was good. The characters in this show have to face the fact that death is a thing in this world, coming to terms with term is how these characters have to survive in this show. The problem I had with this show unfortunately was the slow pacing, every episode was so slow for me but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this show. The fight scenes were beautiful and the animation was lovely to look at.

3: Konsuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!

K

Kazuma tries to save a girl from being run over but he dies and enters the afterlife. Somehow Kazuma decides to choose a fantasy world to live and takes the goddess, Aqua who saved his life with him. The comedy in this show was brilliant. I’m not normally a fan of fantasy anime but this one was great. Aqua is quite the character, she isn’t a smart character and that what made her interactions with Kazuma and other characters great. Kazuma is the straight man in this situation like Shinpachi from Gintama. His reactions to different situations was funny. I have to watch this show again as it was good.

2: Erased

E

Erased was another good one. It’s about Satoru Fujinuma a guy who has the power to rewind time for a few minutes. He ends up going back to the time when he was a 10-year-old boy. To prevent disasters from happening is what his ability is. This show was a great mix of mystery and supernatural, Satoru himself was a great character. His interactions with his classmates in the past was interesting as he had to hide the fact that he is actually a 29-year-old inside his 10 year old body. Satoru’s mum was a brillaint supporting character, I wish she had more screentime. Watch this show if you get the change. You might be able to see how great it is.

1: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinji

S

This was actually a Josei and I didn’t even know. The Rakugo stories were my favourite parts of this show. They were five minutes long and they showcased fine performances from different people. One man takes on many different roles and tells a story while he uses an object as many different props. The animation was lovely to look at and the voice acting was brilliant.  This show was unique and now has a special place in my heart because it was so different. This show balanced life, love and the art of Rakugo in a beautiful way. There need to be more shows like this.

Top 10 Favourite Anime Guys

First of all, I would like to say that this is exciting! I’ve been wanting to do a Top 10 post for a while. This post was hard to make as I have so many favourites. I managed to narrow it down though. Anyway on to my list:

10: Okabe Rintarou from Stein’s Gate.

Stein's Gate 4

Okabe was quite the character in Stein’s Gate. He was a character who cared about others despite his melodramatic personality. I always liked his personality and once I found out why he acts the way he does, I has so much more respect for his character. His interactions with Mayuri, Kurisu and many other characters in the show were hilarious as he calls them a bunch of different names.

His character to me was even better one I found out that Okabe’s voice actor is Mamoru Miyanao, the voice of Yagami Light from Death Note and Ling Yao from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. If you’ve seen those show then you know how great this guy is. He has quite the range. Okabe’s funny personality is what earned him a spot on this list. 😀

9: Yagami Light from Death Note

Yagami Light

Yagami Light was an interesting character.  To bring justice to the rotten people in his rotten world was one of his goals. One of the best strategists I have ever seen in anime. His personality was messed up but that didn’t stop people from loving him including myself. I wanted to hate his character but I couldn’t as the way he would go around to achieve his goals was amazing to me.

Manipulation and Murder were his best friends in this show. He had a simple character design that somehow has made him stand out from other anime characters funnily enough. He is a guy that shows no mercy to anyone and that’s why I like him.

8: Armin Arlert from Attack on Titan

Attack 19.PNG

What can I say about Armin. He started off as a weak character but as the episodes went him, I quickly found out that his intelligence is what makes him special. He’s an important soldier who comes up with interesting ideas to fight the titans. I love his character design because he has the face of an innocent character. To me that is something that is rare in the Attack on Titan world. Innocence.

That’s what made me like him and the fact that he cares about his friends. Kindness is another human trait that is rare as well. Armin is also a coward but he shrugs that off and put himself in danger to help his friends. If you didn’t already know, Armin is voice by a girl. Yes, a girl. Marina Inoue is her name. She also voices Yaoyorozu Momo from My Hero Academia. You know, to me Armin has proved himself time and time again that he is an important character in Attack on Titan.

7:  Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

FullMetal Alchemist 3.PNG

I love this little hot head (don’t tell him I called him little!) because he’s a guy that pushes himself to his highest potential. He has such a caring heart even though he has a metal arm and leg , he doesn’t really let that get to him much. Edward has had a rough past and he carries the mistakes of the past with him throughout the show.

He wants to make sure that he and his brother Alphonse get their bodies back as he blames himself because of what happened in the past. I like the guy because his relationship with his brother throughout the show is heartwarming. His interactions with other characters range from funny to suspicious especially his interactions with some of the adults in the show. Edward is a lovable character who does his best to make the people close to him happy.

6: Ootori Kyouya from Ouran High School Host Club

Ootori Kyouya.PNG

The guy is the vice president of Ouran High School Host Club. According to Tamaki (Blonde Guy) in the High School Host Club, Ootori’s role is to be the mommy of the group. I’m surprised that Ootori never snaps at Tamaki for his comment. Ootori is a strict guy who everyone in the group loves. He is one this list because he is a calm cool guy who is also levelheaded. His interaction with his fellow members in the club are great as well.

5: Monkey D Luffy from One Piece

Luffy.PNG

Luffy is a typical Shounen male lead but that doesn’t stop him from being a funny character in my eyes. He loves to eat a lot of food which is normal for a Shounen character and he cares about his friends and will go to great lengths to keep them safe. He a fun character to watch fight against fellow pirates. Luffy’s goal is to find the One Piece the greatest treasure left behind by another pirate, Gol D Roger.

Luffy is a rubber man who can stretch his body to great lengths. I love the way he uses his gears as a way to fight. He invents these powers to enhance his Devil Fruit ability, his creative ways of using them makes me like him as a character. He would have been higher up this list if not for some other characters on here.

4: Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass

Code Geass 1.PNG

Lelouch was a character who had good intention at first but then became a hero who strayed from his original path. His desire throughout this show was to create a better world for his sister, Nunnally to live in. What made Lelouch an amazing character was his intelligence and his strategic side.

His interactions with Suzuka made for great conflict on his path for peace which happened but it cost him a lot. When Lelouch was Zero, he changed as he became entangled in his desire for revenge that I feel like he forgot what he was fighting for at times. I liked that Lelouch had to balance his school life with his life as Zero it made for some great tension among his followers and friends. You have to admit the Geass is an awesome power.

3: Gilgamesh from Fate Zero

FZ 26

Gilgamesh was a badass character in this show. This guy isn’t the main character at all but he was able to shine so brightly in this show. Gilgamesh was arrogant and cocky who did not care about anyone. He wanted the Holy Grail for himself. Take his interactions with Saber for example. He asks her to marry him, she says no and what does he say.

He was ordering her not asking. This is the type of guy that he is, this isn’t all that surprising when you look at his powers in this show. If you know his back story then you will understand why he is the way he is. I would love to see him again in future shows as he was an amazing character as you can see since he is number 3 on this list.

2: Usui Takumi from Kaichou wa Maid Sama

Usui Takumi.jpg

This guy  may look cold at times but he is a sweet and caring character especially to Misaki. He is a popular among the girls in his school and other schools. He has a way of talking that’s appealing. He was funny in this show, my favourite scene was the one where Misaki is drunk.

His voice actor did a great job portraying this smart and handsome character. His attitude and interactions in this show was funny, especially when it came to Hinata. When those two interacted it was always hilarious.

1: Sakata Gintoki from Gintama.

Sakata Gintoki

I love, love, love this character. Gintoki is a very lazy guy who has a love of sweet things. His treatment of his friends and enemies is always funny. The gags he takes part in are great, especially when it come to references from different games and TV shows. What makes my favourite and at the top of this list is that Gintoki is a samurai who lives in the Edo Period in Japan. He carries a wooden sword with him that can give him enemies a serious fight.

Gintoki likes to joke a lot but deep inside he carries a dark back story. If you’ve seen the show then you know what I mean. He has an incredibly caring side when it comes to his friends and strangers. He runs a business along side Shinpachi and Kagura (who are great characters as well), the three of them go out and help strangers with anything, and I mean anything. I forgot to mention that Gintoki loves to pick his nose and rub it on people’s heads (Kagura).

So that’s my list, did you guys like it? Let me know what your list is down in the comments below!
