Hey guys, sorry for not uploading these last three days. I’m moving house with my family soon so I’ve been busy focusing on that. I’ll try to stick to the schedule this week. Thought you guys should know. 🙂
Anyway on to the review, spoilers as usual.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt disappointed or bored watching this show, unfortunately this episode changed that. First of all, what happened with the animation? I mean don’t get me wrong, the animation isn’t fantastic all the time, when there are fight scenes the animation is fluid and beautiful. Other times the animation is ok. But it’s distracting watching Naoi’s eyes and mouth slide of his face or Otonashi’s looking shocked but his face is wonky as hell.
While it was great to see Yuri reflect on her actions and come to terms with the fact that it’s ok to let go and stop fighting, it wasn’t enough to save this episode for me. Watching Otonashi and co go in guns blazing on the shadow monsters and listening to T.K. spout random english and waste minutes of the run time was extremely boring.
This episode to me came off as filler even though it clearly isn’t. And yes I do know what filler means but that I got from watching this episode.
I don’t like to check how long is left until an episode ends but that’s what I ended up doing. Other than the focus on Yuri and reflection scene, the scene at the beginning with Yui’s band and the ending outro playing before the end of the episode, nothing else stood out.
Despite my somewhat negative review, I’m still interested to see what happens next episode, we have three episodes left. While this felt like the end for Yuri, I doubt it’s the end for Otonashi and the others.
