Yuki Yuna is a Hero Episode 6

I felt bad for the girls in this episode (Spoilers)

So we’re back to the slice of life side of this anime and normally for me that’s where I lose interest but the problems in this episode is what kept me going. The girls go to the hospital for some checkups and find out that each of them have lost something. Yuna’s lost her sense of taste, Fu is losing vision in her eye, Itsuki can’t speak and Toga can’t hear out of her left ear. It’s quite worrying. Karin is the only one that hasn’t had any problems at least I want that to be the case but she hasn’t appeared at school so something is up with her.

Togo has made a list of the problems that each of the girl’s have. She might discover something by doing this, at least I think so. In the second half of the episode we get to see Karin, we find out that she’s hasn’t had any issues with her health which makes the issue at hand suspicious. Karin is the only one that didn’t go Mankai (Hero Trump Card) so she has no problems.

Yuna sets out to find Karin after she mentions to the rest of the girls that Karin goes home straight after class. I get the feeling that Karin is embarrassed because last episode she didn’t activate her Mankai so she believes she’s useless. It’s true that Karin didn’t do anything at all but that doesn’t mean she’s useless. She’ll do something noteworthy next time. We all know there’s going to be a next time, the battle against the vertexes clearly isn’t over yet.

So it’s clear that Karin is lying to herself, it’s true she came to the school and joined the hero club to fight but she ended up finding something better worth much more than fighting: friends.  Yuna encouraging Karin to come back to the club was a great scene. You can see how much Yuna values her friendship with her friends.

Now I did enjoy this episode but I can’t ignore the major problem it had. I just couldn’t get my head around the fact that the girls were ignoring their health issues. They just brushed it off like it was nothing. Doesn’t anything think it’s weird how four out of the five girls have lost something? They brush it off because they don’t want to worry each other. But they can’t ignore it forever. I believe it’s a sign of things to come. Their health problems will get worse, all of them lost something important in that battle.
